Portrait series
Portraiture is one of the most appreciated genres in Western painting. My approach to this type of painting is the oldest series in my work, and is multi-causal.
Framework
Of the multiple points of development of the portrait in my work, I can highlight a series of topics that will be developed little by little in the Blog section of this page. The theoretical framework is very varied, and encompasses introspection, personal experiences, literature and psychology.
Some of these points to develop are:
- Portrait: as the ability to communicate.
- Creation of meanings from the face.
- The physical image of the person is an integral art of his personal history.
- Personal experiences: materialism. Behind: myth. Expressed through self-portrait.
- Introspection. Using the mirror
- Narcissus: clash of realities.
- Borges: self-knowledge of one's own reality. Mask (materialism).
- Lady of Shalott.
- Alice Through the Looking Glass: exterior and interior of the image. Aesthetic component – superficial and interior component – experiential. Facade to contemplate, interior to live in. Plane of work: materialism – exterior, myth – interiority.
- Search for the essential in myself: Self-portrait.
- Tradition. Traditional technique: contrast to innovation.
- Tradition and myth (unalterability): structure, character, value.
- Painting: connection with enduring premises: technique, eternity, true meaning of work: sustenance, related to land.
